Tenth Unused Utility Belt | Video

People keep showing up, with memories... that don't match up. Happening a lot, lately. Guess it happens... all the time, but... seems like more, now.

[Cass stops a second, not looking into the feed but at something past the comm, jaw clenching and relaxing as she thinks.]

Know I did... something. Or... something happened, to me. Made me... someone people don't like? Or are scared of. Don't know.

[It's a little terrifying, to talk to Tim and see him be relieved she's not whatever she becomes in his future.]

I guess, want advice. Want to know... if you did something... bad, or wrong, would you... want to know? Want someone... to tell you, so you could stop? Or just... let it happen, hope you... do right things?

No. Didn't, um... go to school. Don't know most things.

He was a man from an old story, a story that comes from old Greece. Back then they consulted Oracles to know about their destiny, just like you're trying to do.

His father consulted an Oracle once and was told his child would kill him, so he tried to fight the prediction and his destiny by giving away his child Oedipus once his wife gave birth to him. Oedipus was raised by another couple that loved him very much.

One day he consulted the Oracle and was told he'd kill his father and marry his mother. Scared he'd kill the only father he'd only known as such he ran away from home, inadvertently going straight to his real father's castle. He had a fight with him, and killed him.

Shortly after, he married that man's wife- his mother.

[He reaches to run a hand through his hair.] What I'm trying to say is, don't obsess over the future, over what people tell you what to come. It only makes things worse.

Does that make sense?

[He laughs a bit at that. Not at her though, it's just an amusing reaction.]

Yes, but he didn't know she was his mother and he took his eyes out when he found out. The point is the Oracle had told him about the future and by trying to change it he'd run straight towards it.

[It's always easy to tell if laughter is mocking or not, so she just grins back. It's Superman, anyway. Superman doesn't mock people.]

Like the Oracle parts. Fit well. [She does love her Oracle, after all.] And... like that. The way... it sounds.

[He'd tried to change it and ran straight for it. That more than anything else she's heard so far is going to stick in her head forever, she can tell.]
