[Cass inhabiting the CTS isn't a new Barge occurrence, but it's not typical for her to go in looking upset and come out still... really looking upset. But here she is, sitting on the floor outside the CTS to catch her breath and wait for her legs to start working again because it's been a few hours now of nothing but punching and kicking and pushing herself so she wouldn't feel anything, but it's not really doing the job this time around.

So yeah, she's kind of brooding outside the CTS like any good Bat does after an upsetting day.]

[She goes back into the CTS after her break, but it's still not enough. In the end she's just on her knees punching the floor until her hands are bleeding and that helps, finally. Only took her hours to get there. Finally she leaves the CTS and makes her way back home to wait for Merlin. He can fix her, her hands and her heart.

It's a bit surprising, though, that she runs into him in the hallway, him approaching the door from the other direction. Even after everything, she's able to smile when she sees him.]

[Just one of the many reasons Steph will always be her best friend. She understands these things, the things fathers cause without ever realizing, but most of all she just knows that her company is something Cass will sorely want.

She'd have found her first, once she had herself a little more together. When she sees Steph, she reaches her hand out to her.]

Knew you'd come.

[ She knows. She couldn't not know. Loving someone and hating them at the same time, it tears you apart inside even when they aren't on the ship. Cass reaches out a hand, but Steph goes in for a hug. ]

[Cass wraps her arms around Steph tightly, face pressed into her shoulder. There's still to much anger all wrapped up in this, but she knows if she had managed to work everything out, get everything feel back to normal, she'd probably be in tears right now.

As it is, she just clings.]

[ Steph holds her close, gently rubbing her back without really even thinking about it. It sucks that Cass has to deal with this. She wishes she could take it all away. At least for now she can be there for her friend. What happens when she and Kon leave? ]

[It's something Cass tries desperately not to think of, Steph's inevitable departure. She has people here, a support network and people who will help her when she's sad, but there's only one Stephanie. Losing her again isn't something Cass is sure she can cope with.]

Did you... see it all?

[ She shakes her head. ]

No. I didn't want to. [ Even beyond just the way it hurts Cass, it reminds her of her own paternal issues. She just can't deal with Cain. ]

Good.

[It's probably best she doesn't know. It hits hard for both of them, Cass knows that. With an unhappy sigh, she pulls back so she's not crowding Steph quite so much.]

Just want him... to graduate, leave. Shouldn't keep... talking to him.

You shouldn't have to. [ But it's never that easy. Not here. She loosens her hold on her friend, but stays close. ]

My choice to. It was stupid.

[But she'll do it again, she knows she will. She can't stop, will never truly give up on him. And Stephanie understands that, so Cass lifts her hand to touch her cheek softly, thumb rubbing and absent circle against Steph's cheekbone.]

[ Cass shouldn't have to make such an effort to avoid him. But what can you do? She smiles slightly. ]

You made it pretty easy.

[She looks back at the CTS, frowning to herself.]

Did... work, this time. Fix this. That's never happened.

[She takes a moment to consider that, really try to work it out. In the end, she isn't proud of the answer but this is Stephanie, she'll always get the truth.]

Too mad. Don't want to... hit fake enemy. Want real one.

I don't guess this would be one of those times where sparring would help at all. [ It's a nice thought, but if Cass wants to beat on somebody who deserves it the last thing Steph wants to do is get between her and the punching bag. ]

[She shakes her head and touches Stephanie's hair, petting carefully.]

[ Steph offers a lopsided smile. ]

I could call Kon, you'd have a hard time hurting him if he didn't want you to.

Wouldn't want to... fight him while angry. With TK, he'd... feel it. Wouldn't do that, to him.

[But being with Steph, seeing her smile, it's helping her calm down. She can let go of some of that rage that's causing all these bad thoughts if she just focuses on Stephanie.]

[ True enough. She understands the reluctance to fight anyone while angry, though Steph herself has never been tough enough to have to worry about seriously injuring someone until recently. Sometimes company is enough, and she hopes now is one of those times. ]

Hmm. I could drag Nygma up here. Beating the snot out of him always makes me feel better.

[Just company is going to have to be enough for now, but it's Stephanie. Just her presence always makes Cass feel better.]

Would probably be frowned on, hitting inmate. Will stick with CTS.

Ah, spoil-sports. [ She smiles fondly, wishing she could do more but glad that her friend seems to have taken at least a little comfort. ]
