She feels ridiculous for being bothered - it's not like she's spoken to him in a long time. But there's still an element of loss and she really doesn't like that at all. So to hell with addressing the subject at hand.]

[That's probably meant to be a compliment, but it really doesn't feel like one. If anything, it just makes her feel sad that Loki's gone and she wasn't able to do more.]

[There's not even a response, she just heads straight for the gym to find Stephanie. She doesn't come here often now that there's a place she can go to hit things and not worry about breaking them, but it looks just the same as it ever has.]

[He can't help but think that's probably for the best, all things considered.

But he's not going to say that, or that Cass did everything she could, or that ultimately she couldn't do much about Loki's unwillingness to be helped. They're all true, and they've been true of Inmates he's lost before, but the only thing to dull the pain of the idea you've failed is time.

And he's not sure if that's time she wants to spend alone, right now. It's rare that it is, but he doesn't want to press his company on her.]

[Also a joke. Deep down he's kind of annoyed he never had a reason to show Loki exactly how he deals with people who want to hurt the people he loves - but Cass isn't easily hurt, and Loki never really made a move on him.]
